Reproductive Health Clinical Officer (RHCO)

Job Summary

The Reproductive Health Clinical Officer will provide comprehensive, confidential, and client-centered reproductive, maternal, and sexual health services. The role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, counselling, family planning, prevention of sexually transmitted infections, and appropriate referral of clients requiring specialized care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive reproductive, sexual, and maternal health services to clients.
  • Conduct patient consultations, medical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment within the scope of practice.
  • Provide family planning counselling and services, including contraceptive methods and follow-up.
  • Offer antenatal and postnatal care and identify potential maternal and reproductive health complications.
  • Provide STI/RTI screening, diagnosis, treatment, counselling, and prevention services.
  • Provide HIV testing, counselling, prevention services, and appropriate referrals where applicable.
  • Conduct reproductive health examinations and procedures within the officer's level of training and authorization.
  • Provide health education on sexual and reproductive health, contraception, STI prevention, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient records.
  • Ensure appropriate referrals and follow-up for clients requiring specialist or advanced care.
  • Participate in reproductive health outreach, community education, and health promotion activities.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards at all times.
  • Monitor and manage reproductive health supplies, medicines, and equipment as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement, clinical audits, reporting, and data collection.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, midwives, laboratory staff, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Observe professional, ethical, and legal standards governing clinical practice.
  • Perform other duties related to reproductive health services as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine/Clinical Medicine and Surgery, with relevant training or experience in reproductive health.
  • Valid registration with the relevant professional regulatory council.
  • Valid practicing licence.
  • Experience providing reproductive, sexual, maternal, or family planning services is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of reproductive health guidelines, family planning methods, STI management, and maternal health.
  • Excellent clinical, counselling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality, patient dignity, and respectful care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Computer literacy and good medical record-keeping skills.
  • Compassionate, professional, reliable, and able to work under pressure.
