Overall Purpose:

Provide support in preparation, collection, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data related to honey production, certification systems, and community engagement.

Specific Duties:

  • Support design and implementation of research protocols, questionnaires, and surveys.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection in the Mau Forest region (interviews, focus groups, household surveys, etc.).
  • Perform data entry, cleaning, and statistical/qualitative analysis.
  • Draft technical notes, reports, and presentations.
  • Contribute to stakeholder workshops and capacity-building activities.
  • Assist in logistical arrangements for field missions and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and data protection regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Rural Development, Community Development, Sociology, Geography, or related fields.
  • At least 1 year of relevant field experience in data collection and/or community development.
  • Strong skills in qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R, NVivo, or similar).
  • Strong communication and writing skills in English.
  • Ability and willingness to spend significant time in the field.
  • Familiarity with Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team.
  • Sensitivity to local cultures and community dynamics.

Reporting:

Reports to the Visiting Scientist.
