Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is a non-profit organization that conducts research using behavioral economics to understand and address development challenges. Role Context

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. The Research Associate will play a key role in supporting the design, implementation, and analysis of research projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful development research and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of research protocols and instruments.
  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize existing research.
  • Support data collection activities, including survey administration and qualitative interviews.
  • Clean, manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using statistical software.
  • Contribute to the writing of research reports, policy briefs, and academic publications.
  • Collaborate with project teams, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical research principles and data privacy regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python.
  • Experience with data collection methods, including survey design and implementation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for development economics and social impact.

Experience Needed

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in research or a related field is preferred. Experience in a research setting or with development projects is a significant advantage.
