Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)
Bodhi Global Analysis is an international development consultancy specialising in political economy analysis, conflict analysis, and gender and inclusion. Bodhi Global Analysis is a UK based international development research consultancy firm, with a subsidiary in Nairobi. At Bodhi we are committed to producing high-quality research, through academic rigour and objective analysis. We enable international development stakeholders to develop responsive interventions and effective outcomes through evidence-based strategy recommendations. Our clients range from intergovernmental organisations including the UN, (i)NGOs and non-profit organisations.
Responsibilities or duties
This is a mid-level technical role for someone who finds genuine satisfaction in turning messy field data into clean, rigorous evidence. You'll build and maintain data processing pipelines, design and programme survey instruments, conduct real-time data quality audits during fieldwork, and produce the statistical outputs that sit at the heart of our evaluation reports. The role spans desk and field: expect 30–40% international travel, with deployments typically running 2–4 weeks.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
You'll be a strong fit if you bring:
- 5+ years of data analysis experience in international development, humanitarian, or research consultancy settings
- Strong Python skills (pandas, NumPy, matplotlib or equivalent), writing scripts from scratch rather than adapting templates
- Experience with KoboToolbox, ODK, or SurveyCTO for survey design and programming
- Working knowledge of Git for version control and familiarity with Docker
- Solid grounding in sampling methodology, including probability-based sampling, stratification, and sample size estimation
- Prior fieldwork experience and genuine enthusiasm for in-person data collection
- French language skills are a real asset, given our growing Francophone portfolio across the Sahel, Great Lakes, and Central Africa.
