Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated SACCO Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and enhance member satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of cooperative principles, and experience in financial services supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day SACCO operations, including member transactions, loan processing, and account management.
- Ensure efficient and accurate handling of cash, deposits, withdrawals, and member records.
- Monitor transaction reports and reconcile discrepancies in a timely manner.
Member Services & Engagement:
- Provide excellent customer service to SACCO members, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
- Educate members on SACCO products, services, and benefits.
- Assist in member recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with SACCO bylaws, financial regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of financial records and member accounts.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
Team Supervision & Training:
- Supervise and mentor SACCO staff, including tellers, loan officers, and support personnel.
- Schedule staff shifts and assign duties to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct training sessions on policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to management.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions, member data, and staff performance.
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and regulatory filings.
Loan Administration:
- Review loan applications and assess member eligibility based on SACCO lending policies.
- Monitor loan portfolios and follow up on repayments and arrears.
- Coordinate with the credit committee on loan approvals and disbursements.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Cooperative Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Cooperative Management, Accounting, or Microfinance is an advantage.
Experience:
- At least 3–5 years of experience in a SACCO, microfinance institution, or banking environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience in member services, loan administration, and financial operations.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of SACCO operations, financial products, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Office (Excel, Word).
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
