Stewards require skills like strong communication, organization, and the ability to work under pressure, along with a focus on guest/customer service and health and safety. 

Cleaning and maintenance: Ensure all areas, including dining rooms, kitchens, and equipment, are clean and organized. Guest support: Assist guests with inquiries, directions, and other needs. Safety and sanitation: Uphold health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and proper waste disposal. Inventory and restocking: Monitor stock levels, and restock supplies like dishware, glassware, and linens. Operational support: Assist kitchen and serving staff with tasks such as dishwashing, food preparation, and event setup. Crowd management (event stewards): Monitor and control crowd movement, staff entrances/exits, and ensure a safe environment.

Communication: Clearly and effectively communicate with guests, customers, and team members. Organization and multitasking: Manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain order, and complete duties in a timely manner. Customer service: Remain calm, courteous, and attentive to guest needs. Problem-solving: Address issues and potential hazards quickly and effectively. Physical stamina: Be able to stand for long periods and handle the physical demands of the job. Attention to detail: Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and adhere to safety protocols.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is often required. Experience: Previous work experience as a steward, waiter, or in a similar role is often preferred. Knowledge: Understanding of hygiene and safety regulations is essential. Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical ability: Ability to handle the physical requirements of the job, which can include long hours and standing for extended periods.
