Role Purpose:

To lead, develop and continuously improve the Company's Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) management systems by ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, embedding a proactive safety culture, minimizing operational risks, protecting employees and the environment, and driving continuous improvement across all manufacturing operations. The role will additionally support the development and implementation of the organization’s Social and Governance (SG) agenda by coordinating sustainability initiatives, ESG reporting, stakeholder engagement and governance activities to ensure compliance with applicable reporting frameworks and enhance the organization's sustainability performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership

  • Develop and implement the SHE strategy across all operations.
  • Champion a Zero Harm culture.
  • Drive behavioural safety programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Lead safety committees.
  • Monitor safety performance goals.
  • Conduct management safety reviews.

Occupational Health

  • Develop occupational health programmes.
  • Oversee employee wellness initiatives.
  • Coordinate medical surveilance.
  • Monitor occupational illness.
  • Manage contractor health and safety compliance.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response.

Environmental Management

  • Retain but strengthen operational SHE responsibilities:
  • Environmental compliance.
  • Waste management.
  • Water conservation.
  • Energy efficiency.
  • Pollution prevention.
  • Carbon reduction.
  • Environmental audits.
  • ISO 14001 implementation.
  • Environmental incident investigations.

SHE Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEMA and all statutory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external SHE audits.
  • Incident investigations.
  • Risk assessments.
  • Permit-to-work systems.
  • Contractor safety.
  • Corrective action management.
  • Business continuity support.

ESG

  • Lead and support the implementation of the Company's ESG strategy in line with business objectives.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the Annual Sustainability Report and Board ESG reports.
  • Lead the development and review of ESG-related policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with ESG reporting requirements and governance standards.
  • Develop and maintain ESG performance dashboards and scorecards.
  • Monitor ESG KPIs and ensure the accuracy and integrity of sustainability data.
  • Coordinate ESG engagement with customers, investors, regulators, suppliers, and community stakeholders.
  • Respond to sustainability questionnaires and support customer ESG requirements.
  • Promote responsible sourcing practices.
  • Conduct supplier ESG assessments and monitor supplier sustainability performance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering, Natural Resources Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG, HSE, environmental management, or corporate governance.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Experience implementing sustainability programmes and preparing ESG reports.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and project management experience.
