Sales Manager, Kenya
Job Summary
Our client is seeking to recruit an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to lead sales operations within the Kenyan market for a business operating in the sports footwear, sports apparel, accessories, and sports equipment sector. The role focuses on driving revenue growth through effective distributor management, strategic sales execution, and strong customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels.
The successful candidate contributes to expanding market presence, improving product visibility, and achieving sales targets through data-driven decision-making and strong commercial leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Relationship Management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, including retailers, distributors, and key decision-makers, to understand customer needs and promote product sales.
- Sales Target Achievement
Identify and pursue new sales opportunities to meet or exceed sales goals within assigned territories by managing sales pipelines and closing deals effectively.
- Market Analysis
Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activity, and potential opportunities for product expansion within the assigned market.
- Inventory Management
Monitor stock levels, manage product availability, and coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
- Pricing and Negotiation
Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with customers, taking into account market conditions, product features, and company policies.
- Product Promotion
Educate customers on product features, benefits, and applications through presentations, demonstrations, and other promotional initiatives.
- Order Processing
Receive and process customer orders accurately, ensuring correct documentation and coordination with warehouse and logistics teams.
- Reporting and Analysis
Track sales performance, generate reports on key sales metrics, and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and adjust sales strategies.
- Distribution Channel Management
Manage relationships with distributors, wholesalers, and other sales channels to optimize product distribution and market reach.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ sales experience, preferably within sports footwear, sports apparel, accessories, or sports equipment.
- Strong knowledge of the Kenyan retail and distribution ecosystem.
- Experience handling distributors, MBOs, and SIS formats.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
Experience and Skills
- Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills to close deals and build customer loyalty.
- Clear understanding of market dynamics, competitor landscape, and industry trends.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
- Analytical skills to interpret sales data and support informed decision-making.
- Basic knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, and delivery processes.
