It combines structured mentoring, grant development support, professional enrichment, and peer networking to help participants become more competitive in securing research funding and navigating academic systems.

Benefits of American Psychological Foundation - Scholarships to Enhance and Empower the Development of Scientists

In addition to mentoring and career support, SEEDS also includes direct financial assistance.

Funding Available

  • Four grants of $2,000 provided by the American Psychological Foundation (APF)
  • Additional grants may be available from other sponsors

Eligible applicants must be:

  • Early-career PhD scientists
  • Working in neuroscience-related fields
  • From underrepresented groups
  • curriculum vitae/resume
  • one-page description of proposed grant application (Specific Aims page for NIH applicants; Project Summary for NSF applicants) including planned submission deadline
  • one-page personal statement describing your commitment to an academic career, your research area, availability of scientific advisors, and expectations of the workshop
  • two letters of reference
