School Accountant

Job Purpose: To manage the financial records of the school, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting of all financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers (receipts, payments, petty cash).
  • Process fee payments, receipting, and debt collection follow-ups.
  • Prepare payment vouchers and process statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF).
  • Reconcile bank statements and petty cash on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Liaise with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and school financial policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance) or related field.
  • CPA Part II or higher (CPA-K preferred).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or other accounting software.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in an educational institution.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
