Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and organized Scribe to join our client's eye care team. The Scribe will be responsible for accurately documenting patient encounters, assisting physicians with administrative tasks, and ensuring seamless patient flow within the clinic. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Accurately document patient medical history, physical examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and procedures in the electronic health record (EHR) system in real-time during patient encounters.
- Assist physicians with administrative tasks, including preparing patient charts, managing correspondence, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all documentation, adhering to medical record standards and legal requirements.
- Transcribe dictated reports, letters, and other medical documents as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the physician or clinic manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience as a medical scribe, medical assistant, or in a similar healthcare administrative role is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy.
- Excellent typing skills and speed (minimum 60 WPM).
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably as a scribe or medical assistant.
Work Environment
This position is based in a busy eye care clinic. The role requires close interaction with physicians and patients.
