Responsibilities or duties
- Lead teacher for Kenyan Sign Language classes across the high school, including planning, teaching, and assessment
- Collaborate with subject teachers to co-plan, co-deliver, and co-assess lessons aligned to curriculum goals and inclusive education principles
- Adapt and differentiate learning materials and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs
- Support the development of conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Implement mastery-based learning and assessment approaches to ensure all learners can engage meaningfully
- Act as a case manager for individual learning plans or support updates with the designated case manager
- Monitor, document, and communicate learner progress with teachers, families, and the learning support team
- Provide targeted small group or individual support during lessons where needed
- Contribute to a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that fosters curiosity and independence
- Participate in professional learning, collaborative planning, and whole school initiatives
Qualifications or requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or Bachelor of Education with Certification in Special Needs Education
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in an inclusive or special education setting
- Demonstrated experience in Humanities, Literacy, and Kenyan Sign Language instruction
- Valid TSC Number for Kenyan applicants
- Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and learner support strategies
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong alignment with Woodland Star’s mission and values

Minimum 3 years relevant experience in an inclusive or special education setting
