Purpose of The Role

Our client, a well-established organization, invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Security Manager. The role is responsible for ensuring that threats to personnel, assets, and business operations/activities within the company’s factories and estates are continuously identified, properly evaluated and mitigated in a timely and cost- effective manner.

Security Strategy and Planning:

Develop and implement comprehensive security policies, procedures, and protocols to protect the organization’s assets and personnel.

Manage operational activities and performance standards of 3rd Party Security contractors.

Effectively manage 3 rd Party security service provision companies in terms of fit for purpose performance and adherence/compliance with agreed SLAs.

Team Leadership:

lead and manage the security team, providing guidance, training and performance evaluations. Foster a culture of professionalism, integrity, and excellence within the team.

Lead and Travel Security management across Business through traveller support in Security Coordination Centre/Control Room at Travel Desk and active risk management programmes.

Includes monitoring all in- bound travelers complying with Company premises and during Travel within Kenya.

Security Operations:

Oversee day-to-day security operations, including access control, surveillance, and alarm systems.

Coordinate and conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure the readiness of the security personnel.

Conduct risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate measures.

Develop and implement incident response plans to address security breaches, emergencies, and other critical incidents.

Manage security incident reporting, handling, and recommend corrective actions.

Collaborate with internal departments to assess security needs and integrate security measures into overall organizational plans.

Ensure Security induction and briefing of all new joiners, international staff/visitors on in- country security issues upon arrival at the Factory Sites and Offices.

Provide coordination and oversight of liaison with high-profile Visitors, Events, and Functions as may be required from time to time.

Liaise with various Law Enforcement, Community leaders, village elders & Emergency Services in the event of an Incident and Incident/Interagency (i.e Fire, Medical, Mechanical breakdown) or emergency.

Emergency Response:

Develop and maintain emergency response plans and ensure that all security personnel are trained and equipped to respond to emergencies effectively.

Ensure regular security briefings/meetings with respective business units.

Route checks with Operations and Transport team to ensure security and safety compliance for regional offices with outsourced 3rd Party security officers.

Maintain high security checks within all operational areas.

Manage and ensure adherence to both internal and 3 Party staffing levels within the operational areas.

Coordinate Night Shift security operations at the Factory and Estates including Night Harvesting and alertness of both the internal and 3 rd Party Security Officers.

Qualifications

Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.

Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive security management experience in industrial, manufacturing, mining, FMCG, or heavy industry environments.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in managing Security Command Centre operations.
  • Background in law enforcement, military training, or intelligence service agent will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage security systems and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience in dealing with security technology systems, devices, perimeter protection, CCTV, intruder alarms.
  • High computer literacy with practical understanding of company information, including computer bases and measures.
