Job Summary:
The Security Risk Management Officer (SRMO) will be responsible for supporting the implementation of IRC’s security management system in Kenya. This includes ensuring that security policies and procedures are understood and followed by all staff and implementing appropriate security measures to protect IRC personnel, assets, and operations. The SRMO will report to the Country Director and work closely with the Regional Safety and Security Advisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Conduct regular security risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigation measures.
- Monitor the security situation in areas of IRC operation and provide timely updates and alerts to staff.
- Develop and deliver security training to IRC staff.
- Manage and supervise security guards and ensure their effectiveness.
- Investigate security incidents and prepare incident reports.
- Liaise with local authorities, UN agencies, and other NGOs on security matters.
- Ensure compliance with IRC’s security policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in security management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
- Strong understanding of security risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in English and Swahili is required.

- Previous experience working with the IRC.
- Completion of security management training courses.
