Responsibilities or duties

  • Prepare financial statements, supporting statements, and relevant analysis for PATH and its affiliates.
  • Research and implement complex and emerging accounting issues, (e.g., ASC 842).
  • Coordinate and track month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
  • Prepare annual 990 tax return.
  • Prepare and maintain Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).
  • Prepare Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA) schedules.
  • Evaluate transactions posted to the General Ledger for consistency, allowability and compliance with GAAP and PATH policies.
  • Administer and maintain system for global balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assemble responses and reports for high profile filings, financial reports, and surveys for governmental agencies and external third parties.
  • Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas.
  • Prepare and file state and local taxes (B&O, S&LT, etc.).
  • Participate in the financial close and audit processes by preparing and processing various adjustments, journal entries and schedules.
  • Support and review country office financial filings, as assigned.
  • Design and update reports and power point presentations and other materials for PATH’s Board and PATH’s leadership teams.
  • Respond to questions and provide support to other departments regarding proper accounting treatment of transactions.
  • Act as backup for other global Finance functions as needed during peak periods.
  • Lead ad hoc accounting projects to remediate process gaps and drive efficiency.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of five years relevant work experience in accounting or finance type role with increasing levels of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and related field experience.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Highly skilled in complex account reconciliations with keen attention to details and ability to analyze data, research information to clarify issues, find and propose appropriate solution.
  • Knowledge of and experience with USG Regulations, such as 2 CFR 200 and FAR.
  • Experience preparing U.S. federal tax returns, specifically the form 990.
  • Knowledge of accounting and GAAP practices relevant to Non-Profit Accounting.
  • Experience with global accounting/ERP systems (UNIT4 Business World is a strong plus).
  • Experience with third party account reconciliation management software (previous use of Blackline is a strong plus).
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Exhibits a positive, proactive attitude with a sense of urgency; follows through and gets things done with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously, capable of rapid coordination and distribution of information.
  • Ability to develop and use various complex tools to data-mine across multiple linked and un-linked PATH systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
