To oversee and manage daily accounting operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely support to management decision-making. The Senior Accountant provides leadership in maintaining strong internal controls, supervising accounting staff, and streamlining financial processes for operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS/GAAP.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including banks, payables, receivables, and inventory.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support management decision-making.
- Maintain general ledger integrity by ensuring accurate posting of transactions.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in developing annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and variance analysis to ensure cost control and adherence to financial plans.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions where variances occur.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management
- Oversee invoicing, collections, and supplier payments to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Implement controls to manage credit limits, payment terms, and cash flow.
- Support procurement and sales teams in resolving invoice discrepancies or payment delays.
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate both internal and external audits, ensuring timely availability of required documentation.
- Enforce adherence to company financial policies, tax laws, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory filings, and payroll obligations.
Team Supervision & Process Improvement
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants, providing training and guidance for performance improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, workflows, and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to automate and streamline finance functions.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor daily cash positions and bank balances to ensure adequate liquidity.
- Manage disbursements, petty cash, and fund transfers efficiently.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
Stakeholder & Management Support
- Support management in financial planning, investment analysis, and cost optimization strategies.
- Provide timely financial information to auditors, regulators, and senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional certification required.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a busy or high-volume organization.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, tax laws, and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle, or Odoo) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
