We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing core accounting functions, supporting financial reporting, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), maintaining accurate financial records, and providing support during statutory audits and tax compliance processes.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, a professional accounting qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA, ACA, or equivalent, and at least 3–5 years of professional experience within a Big Four firm (Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG). Big Four experience is mandatory and is a non-negotiable requirement for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day accounting operations and execute month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, provisions, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage accounting for inventory, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepare financial reporting schedules and support the timely preparation of management and statutory reports.
- Maintain and manage the accounting records of Joint Ventures (JV), including transaction processing, reconciliations, reporting, and accounting adjustments.
- Support external financial audits, statutory audits, and tax audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit queries.
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal accounting policies and procedures.
- Support transfer pricing compliance and related-party accounting transactions.
- Assist with Kenya tax accounting, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Corporate Income Tax computations and reporting.
- Investigate accounting discrepancies, resolve reconciling items, and recommend corrective actions to strengthen financial controls.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting efficiency.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Finance Management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA, ACA, or equivalent.
- At least 3–5 years of professional experience within a Big Four firm (Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG). Big Four experience is mandatory and is a non-negotiable requirement for this position.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant accounting experience within a multinational, industrial, manufacturing, energy, agribusiness, or Export Processing Zone (EPZ) environment.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in IFRS, financial reporting, accounting controls, and reconciliations.
- Experience supporting statutory audits, tax audits, and financial reporting processes.
- Experience with Kenya tax accounting, including VAT, WHT, and Corporate Income Tax.
- Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP.
