Background
The Commission for University Education (CUE) established by the Universities Act Cap 210 Laws of Kenya is a state corporation mandated to assure quality of university education, training and research in Kenya. A beacon of excellence in the Kenyan university education landscape, the Commission is steadfastly upholding its mandate to promote, advance, and assure quality university education.
To achieve these objectives CUE seeks to recruit dynamic, result-oriented, competent and self-driven individuals for the position listed below:
Terms of Employment
Permanent & Pensionable
Responsibilities or duties
- Recording dictation in shorthand and transcribing it in typewritten form;
- Drafting and typing routine letters and memos;
- Ensuring the security of office equipment, documents and records;
- Attending to visitors or clients;
- Maintaining an up to date filing system in the office;
- Handling telephone calls, diary and appointments;
- Arranging for meetings and preparing the necessary materials for the discussion;
- Reporting on any need for office repairs and requesting office stationery;
- Supervising office cleanliness;
- Managing office protocol and etiquette;
- Organizing travel arrangements; and
- Maintaining a register of outgoing and incoming files and mail.
Qualifications or requirements
- Diploma in Secretarial Studies from Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) or its equivalent from a recognized institution or Business Education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) from the Kenya National Examinations Council in the following subjects with a minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience:
- Typewriting III (Minimum 50 w.p.m.)/Computerized document processing III;
- Shorthand II (80w.p.m);
- Business English II/Communications I;
- Office Practice II;
- Secretarial Duties II;
- Commerce II;
- Office Management III/Office Administration and Management III;
- Proficiency in computer application from a recognized institution;
- Demonstrated good results in work performance; and
- Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
