Role Purpose
Talent Grid Africa on behalf of their client in the shipping industry is hiring a Senior Coordinator Steering will be responsible for driving sales steering, allocation optimization, and revenue performance management within the Mombasa Area Sales office. The Senior Coordinator Steering will ensure optimal utilization of voyage space, customer allocations, and equipment planning while delivering high-quality service to internal stakeholders and customers in alignment with the company’s global commercial governance and performance standards.
The Senior Coordinator Steering will play a key role in revenue optimization, forecasting accuracy, CRM opportunity steering, and strategic market analysis to maximize profitability and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage voyage space requests and waiting list shipments.
- Monitor and optimize voyage allocation utilization.
- Oversee customer and bundled allocation usage to maximize revenue yield.
- Provide guidance on shipment handling in overbooking situations.
- Coordinate and request CA (Capacity Authorization) where required.
- Plan and align annual budget volumes and revenue targets.
- Provide weekly volume forecasts and monthly volume trend analysis.
- Review and analyze lost business to identify recovery opportunities.
- Track customer performance and identify growth potential.
- Liaise with Trade Management (TM) on routing optimization, GRI opportunities, and market feedback.
- Optimize market segmentation (Long-Term vs Short-Term business), cargo mix, and equipment allocation.
- Analyze and optimize local ancillary charges (DOC fees, cancellation fees, re-booking fees, etc.).
- Analyze CRM opportunities and guide Sales Management on priority pursuits.
- Perform PRIA report clean-up (Negative CL2 and ICL adjustments).
- Conduct D&D (Demurrage & Detention) analysis and freetime reviews for management approvals.
- Review routing proposals and recommend improvements.
- Prepare and participate in APM calls and steering meetings.
- Conduct weekly alignment meetings with Area Sales teams.
- Forecast equipment requirements and support supply-demand balance.
- Provide structured reports to management on commercial performance and operational alignment.
- Collect and assess market intelligence including competitor services, product changes, and potential customers.
Qualifications & Experience
- University Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience in shipping line sales steering, commercial operations, or capacity management.
- Strong understanding of trade lanes, allocation control, and revenue management.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Strong MS Office skills (advanced Excel required).
- Experience with CRM systems and commercial reporting tools preferred.
