Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities entail: -
- Driving the Council’s staff as authorized;
- Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
- Keeping up to date work tickets for vehicles;
- Recognizing and reporting mechanical defaults of the vehicles;
- Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
- Maintaining cleanliness of vehicles;
- Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
- Monitoring and reporting expiry of insurance policies for motor vehicles;
- Preparing and submitting reports on transport when need arises;
- Ensuring security and safety of passengers and vehicle on and off the road;
- Ensuring proper mechanical working condition of the vehicle;
- Ensuring adherence to or observations of traffic laws;
- Ensuring reporting of any incidents to police and/or the office immediately they occur; and
- undertake any other functions as may be lawfully assigned.
Job Specification
Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have: -
- Must have served for a minimum period of nine (9) years, three (3) of which must be at the grade of driver I or in a comparable position;
- At least a mean grade D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- A valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;
- A defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA) or its equivalent qualification from any other recognized institution;
- First Aid certificate course;
- A valid Certificate of good conduct;
- Occupational trade test grade I for drivers;
- Proficiency in computer applications;
- Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at the Kenya Authority of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
