Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Finance Officer to oversee financial management, budgetary controls, and compliance across our operations in Kenya. The successful candidate will maintain robust accounting frameworks, manage financial reporting, and ensure full adherence to organizational policies and donor regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight & Accounting: Lead day-to-day accounting operations, oversee treasury/cash management, and manage general ledger reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Donor Compliance: Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, prepare financial forecasts, and ensure strict compliance with donor guidelines.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal leadership and institutional donors.
- Audit & Risk Management: Lead internal and external audit preparation, manage financial risk assessments, and maintain rigorous internal controls.
- Team Leadership & Capacity Building: Support and mentor finance staff while working closely with program managers to build financial management capacity.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably within the international non-governmental organization (INGO) sector.
- Competencies: Proficiency in enterprise accounting software, advanced Excel skills, in-depth donor compliance knowledge, and strong analytical acumen.
