Tana is a career launchpad for tech-savvy Kenyan youth. We believe that borders shouldn't constrain talent, and our mission is to create global opportunities for you to earn, learn, and build the future!

Position Overview

We are hiring a Senior Frontend Developer to build and maintain the user interface of a commercial real estate software platform. The platform helps companies manage property leases, documents, key dates, tasks and lease accounting compliance.

You will develop data-heavy enterprise interfaces in React and TypeScript, including complex forms, data grids, dashboards and reporting. This role requires someone who can independently take features from brief to deployment, proactively suggest improvements and learn unfamiliar libraries and parts of the stack.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the platform's user interface in React and TypeScript, using the Material-UI component library.
  • Build reusable, well-tested components for the wider team.
  • Connect the frontend to the GraphQL API and keep data loading fast, using Relay.
  • Develop multi-step lease forms with validation, large data grids with server-side pagination and filtering, dashboards, charts, reporting and document previews.
  • Keep the application performant, responsive and accessible.
  • Own features end to end, from scoping with the architect through implementation, testing, code review and deployment.
  • Support multi-tenant theming and internationalisation, including right-to-left languages.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional frontend development experience.
  • Expert React skills, including hooks, context, state management and performance optimisation.
  • Strong TypeScript experience across a large codebase, beyond basic typing.
  • Experience consuming GraphQL APIs from the frontend. The platform uses Relay; Apollo or similar experience is acceptable.
  • Frontend testing as a normal part of development, using tools such as Jest, Vitest or React Testing Library.
  • Experience with modern build tools such as Vite or webpack.
  • Experience building data-heavy enterprise interfaces, including complex forms, data tables and dashboards.
  • Ability to independently take a feature from brief to shipped.
  • A proactive approach to identifying UX and technical problems and suggesting improvements.
  • Ability to learn new libraries and parts of the stack, including working from documentation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Material-UI, Minimals UI or a similar design system.
  • Accessibility experience, including WCAG 2.1, and internationalisation experience, including right-to-left languages.
  • C#/.NET exposure sufficient to read backend code.
  • Experience with MongoDB or Cosmos DB.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP.
