Role Description
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner is a full-time, on-site role based in Nairobi. This role provides strategic HR partnership to senior leadership and managers, aligning human resources initiatives with organizational priorities and programmatic objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising on workforce planning, talent management, performance management, and organizational development. The Senior HR Business Partner supports recruitment and onboarding, leads complex employee relations matters, and ensures consistent application of HR policies and practices. The role also contributes to change management efforts, supports staff well-being and engagement, and collaborates with global and regional HR teams to implement UNFPA HR strategies and standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic HR business partnering, including workforce planning, organizational development, and change management.
- Strong experience in performance management, talent management, and succession planning within complex or international organizations.
- Proficiency in employee relations, conflict resolution, and application of HR policies, ensuring fair and transparent processes.
- Advanced skills in HR data analysis, reporting, and use of HR information systems to inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coaching skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
- Proven ability to work in multicultural environments and support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Relevant university degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM, CIPD) is an asset.
- Experience in the UN system, international NGOs, or large public-sector organizations is highly desirable, particularly in development or humanitarian contexts.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex cases and projects simultaneously.
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of additional UN languages is an advantage.
