Background
The Commission for University Education (CUE) established by the Universities Act Cap 210 Laws of Kenya is a state corporation mandated to assure quality of university education, training and research in Kenya. A beacon of excellence in the Kenyan university education landscape, the Commission is steadfastly upholding its mandate to promote, advance, and assure quality university education. To achieve these objectives CUE seeks to recruit dynamic, result-oriented, competent and self-driven individuals for the position listed below:
Terms of Employment
Permanent & Pensionable
a) Job Specifications
Duties and responsibilities will entail assisting in: -
- Installing, updating and optimizing network systems;
- Monitoring Servers, Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and WI-FI to ensure coverage;
- Coordinating with design, implementation and support of new software and features;
- Attending to ICT related issues, hardware maintenance, software and networking;
- Initiating procurement requisitions from the stores for CUE ICT department;
- Providing helpdesk and technical support either by phone, remote access or site visit;
- Setting up of equipment for new users and employees and on boarding them on their usages;
- Coordinating repair and maintains ICT equipment, and associated peripherals;
- Ensuring system optimization for all technology resources;
- Performing data backups to ensure all Commission data and systems are secure; and
- Implementing, installing and maintaining Commission’s communication and telephone systems.
b) Persons Specification
For appointment to this grade, an Officer must have:
- Diploma in Information Technology / Computer Science / Information Systems from an institution recognized in Kenya with four (4) years relevant work experience;
- Professional Qualifications and Membership to professional bodies;
- Relevant ICT certification from recognized certification bodies;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
c) Key competencies and skills
- Troubleshooting skills;
- Interpersonal skills’
- Communication and Presentation skills;
- Research and analytical skills; and
- Ability to work under pressure.
The Successful candidates will be required to provide the following documents before the award of offer in compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010:
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
- Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
