Overall Responsibility:
This position reports directly to the Dean, School of Theology and Social Sciences and is responsible for strategic leadership in academic planning and quality teaching and learning within the School of Theology and Social Sciences. The candidate should meet the following qualifications.
Academic Qualifications
- Doctorate Degree: A PhD in Biblical Studies (Old Testament).
- Master's and Undergraduate Degrees: A strong academic background with a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies, Theology, or related disciplines.
Professional Qualifications
- Teaching Experience: At least 5-7 years of teaching experience at the university level, preferably as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent.
- Administrative Experience: Proven leadership experience, such as serving as a Department Chair, Programme Coordinator, or holding other significant administrative roles in academia.
- Research and Publication Record: A strong research record, including publications in peer reviewed journals, books, or conference papers.
- Evidence of involvement in grant-winning proposals and research projects is an added advantage.
Competency-Based and Pedagogical Skills
- Curriculum Development: Experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing curricula for higher education programs.
- Familiarity with competency-based education and other modern pedagogical approaches.
Student Mentorship:
- Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Personal Attributes and Skills
- Leadership and Teamwork: Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to provide strategic direction and align the school’s goals with the university’s mission.
- Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Integrity and Ethical Standards: Demonstrable integrity, professionalism, and adherence to academic and institutional ethics.
- Christian Testimony and Call to Ministry: A clear Christian testimony and a demonstrated call to ministry.
- Active Participation in Church Ministry: Actively involved in the life and ministry of a local church.
Desirable Qualifications
- Professional Memberships: Membership in relevant professional bodies in Biblical Studies or Theology.
- Experience in Multi-Disciplinary Environments: Ability to manage and integrate diverse academic programs in Biblical Studies or Theology.
