Background
This role involves providing legal expertise and support within a governmental assembly context.
Responsibilities
- Providing legal advice to the County Assembly Service Board, the Assembly and Committees.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements and legal documents.
- Representing the Assembly in legal proceedings when required.
- Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions, briefs and advisory notes.
- Assisting in drafting Bills, amendments, motions and legislative reports.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and constitutional provisions.
- Prosecuting litigation matters with external counsel.
- Ensuring Assembly Bills comply with the Constitution.
- Performing any other duties assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
- Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Valid practicing certificate.
- At least three (3) years post-admission experience in legal practice or legislative drafting.
- Strong research, drafting and analytical skills.
- Experience in parliamentary or public sector legal work will be an added advantage.
