About the Role

We are looking for a results-oriented Senior Marketing Manager to spearhead our marketing efforts and drive business growth in Kenya. You will develop and coordinate the execution of marketing strategies with the marketing Managers to drive brand and product awareness, customer engagement and business growth across the region.

What you would be expected to do:

1. Strategic Planning:

  • Liaise with the different business unit sales experts and marketing team to devise regional strategies.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans with marketing Managers of the respective verticals i.e. EBD Solar business, Inverter business, Clean Cooking business, Smartphones business & Shop optimization.

2. Project Management:

  • Execute global and regional projects as assigned.
  • Oversee conference management in Kenya.
  • Manage the region’s marketing budget and ensure effective resource allocation.

3. Mutual partnership and facilitation:

  • Work closely with Marketing Subject Matter experts in driving campaigns plans and executions in the region.
  • Flair for effective stakeholder management in relating with internal stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including Sun King partners and industry bodies.

4. Team Management

  • Set goals, targets and KPIs for the respective marketing managers.
  • Conduct performance evaluation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Develop and implement team training & development programs whilst fostering a positive and an equitable team structure.
  • Coach and mentor team members.

5. Reporting

  • Monthly report of marketing activities executed with the ability to demonstrate tangible return on investment (ROI).
  • Quarterly review of marketing activities executed with focus on marketing performance metrics.
  • Annual report on the business SWOT assessment in the region.
  • Contender activity reporting.

You might be a strong candidate if you have:

  • Bachelors degree in a business-related field.
  • 8+ years hands-on marketing experience in the FMCG, Telecommunications, solar or agency industry with at least 2-3 years in a people management role.
  • Proven track record of success in developing and executing regional marketing strategies.
  • Experience in building & managing strong teams and guiding them to deliver exceptional performance.
  • Experience in managing million dollar budgets and external agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing fundamentals, including customer segmentation, targeting, and positioning.
  • Strong ability to Interpret data and insights to inform strategy.
  • Knowledge of traditional marketing touchpoints.
  • Entrepreneurial marketer with a strong return on investment (ROI) & value for money disciplined approach.
  • Familiarity with the Kenya market, culture, and consumer behaviour.
  • Awareness of local regulations, legal requirements, and market trends
  • Exceptional supervision and team management skills
  • Strong communication, presentation and people skills.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter who is willing to take initiative, ownership & accountability.
  • Experience/Ability to develop strong internal and external partnerships and form strategic alliances.
  • Excellent negotiation/influencing skills.
  • High results and performance orientation with the ability to solve problems and make critical judgements.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Adaptability, flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Swahili languages.
