About the Role

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is a tertiary care hospital committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to the people of Western Kenya and surrounding regions. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Officer - General Surgery to join our dedicated medical team.

Responsibilities

The Senior Medical Officer - General Surgery will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive surgical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of surgical conditions.
• Performing a wide range of general surgical procedures.
• Managing pre-operative and post-operative care of surgical patients.
• Collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participating in on-call duties and emergency surgical care.
• Mentoring and supervising junior medical officers and interns.
• Contributing to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

• MBChB or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
• Master of Medicine (M.Med) in General Surgery or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
• Valid registration and current practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in General Surgery.
• Proven experience in performing a variety of general surgical procedures.
• Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
