Job Summary

The Senior Medical Officer - General Surgery will be responsible for providing comprehensive surgical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of surgical conditions. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced surgeon with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of general surgical procedures.
• Diagnose and manage surgical conditions.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to surgical patients.
• Consult with other medical professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Participate in the training and supervision of junior medical staff and surgical residents.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, and maintain high ethical and professional standards.
• Participate in continuing medical education and professional development activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• MBChB or equivalent degree from a recognized university.
• Master of Medicine (M.Med) in General Surgery or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Valid registration and current practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in General Surgery.
• Proven experience in performing a wide range of general surgical procedures.
• Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
