Background

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Senior Resources Management Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the provision of medical services to IOM staff and eligible dependants, as well as to beneficiaries of IOM projects in Kenya.

Responsibilities

1. Provide comprehensive medical care to IOM staff and eligible dependants, including diagnosis, treatment, and referral when necessary.

2. Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and post-assignment medical examinations.

3. Provide medical support to IOM beneficiaries as per project requirements, including health assessments, treatment, and health education.

4. Manage and maintain medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with IOM policies.

5. Oversee the procurement and management of medical supplies and equipment.

6. Provide health advice and awareness programs to IOM staff and beneficiaries.

7. Liaise with local health authorities and medical facilities for referrals and collaboration.

8. Participate in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Occupational Health, or a related field is an advantage.

Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in clinical medicine, preferably in a humanitarian or international organization setting.
  • Experience in managing health programs and providing medical care to diverse populations.

Skills:

  • Excellent diagnostic and treatment skills.
  • Strong knowledge of public health principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
