Position overview:

The role will be placed with a global application-security technology company that builds software used by organizations around the world to secure web applications, APIs, software components, containers, and broader application-security workflows. This is a senior QA Automation Lead role, combining hands-on automation work with people leadership. You will manage and support a team of Junior QA Automation Engineers while also driving forward end-to-end automation, integration testing, shift-left QA practices, and automation best practices across engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Junior QA Automation Engineers.
  • Drive shift-left QA practices by encouraging earlier testing, stronger collaboration with developers, and better prevention of defects before release.
  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Improve automation quality, maintainability, reliability, and scalability across the QA process.
  • Work closely with engineering managers and technical leads across multiple teams to align on QA priorities, risks, and progress.
  • Identify gaps in QA processes and recommend practical improvements.
  • Balance hands-on technical QA work with people leadership responsibilities.
  • Support the team in following strong testing practices, debugging issues effectively, and improving test coverage over time.

Requirements:

Must have:

  • 5+ years of hands-on automation QA experience, especially end-to-end automation testing using Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Experience performing integration testing across complex product workflows, APIs, or connected systems.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing engineers or QA team members.
  • Ability to coach junior team members, support their growth, and guide them toward the right resources.
  • Strong understanding of automation best practices, test design, debugging, and maintainable test architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to share progress, blockers, risks, and recommendations clearly.
  • Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to identify problems, propose improvements, and drive quality forward.
  • Ability to work across multiple engineering teams and balance technical execution with people leadership.
  • Ability to incorporate feedback quickly and adapt to a fast-paced technical environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in application security, cybersecurity, or security-focused products.
  • Familiarity with security testing concepts or application-security tooling.
  • A background in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience using AI tools to support or accelerate QA work.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Junior QA Automation Engineers.
