Role Summary
The Service Bay Staff is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality vehicle support services at the station’s service bay. The role supports customer convenience and revenue generation while ensuring strict adherence to HSSE standards, equipment safety, and professional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Service Bay Operations
Provide approved vehicle services such as oil checks, oil changes (where authorized), tyre pressure checks, battery assistance, and basic vehicle inspections.
Ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with station procedures.
Manage service bay queues to minimize customer waiting time.
2. HSSE Compliance & Safe Work Practices
Comply with HSSEMS requirements, including PPE usage and safe handling of tools and materials.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free service bay area.
Immediately report spills, injuries, equipment faults, or unsafe conditions.
3. Customer Service & Professional Conduct
Engage customers courteously and explain services clearly.
Provide honest guidance on service limitations and avoid unauthorized mechanical work.
Escalate customer complaints or technical concerns to the Supervisor.
4. Equipment & Tool Management
Use service bay tools and equipment responsibly and only for authorized tasks.
Conduct basic checks on tools and report maintenance needs.
Prevent misuse, loss, or damage of service bay equipment.
5. Sales Support & Value Addition
Promote approved service bay offerings where appropriate.
Support station revenue by encouraging legitimate value-added services.
Ensure all services rendered are properly recorded and charged.
6. Housekeeping & Asset Care
Maintain cleanliness of the service bay and surrounding areas.
Dispose of waste (used oil, materials) according to environmental guidelines.
Qualifications
KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
Basic mechanical or automotive service training is an added advantage.
Prior experience in a service bay, garage, or automotive support role preferred.
Willingness to work shifts and outdoors.
