Background information about the job or company
We require an experienced, hands-on Site Supervisor / Clerk of Works to oversee construction activities on a woodland development project in Nairobi. The project comprises of sustainably designed timber-framed office pods constructed on concrete pylons, together with decks, walkways, plumbing and biodigester systems, electrical works and finishing trades. The role is to represent the client on site and ensure daily supervision of works, coordination of subcontractors and adherence to drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities or duties
- Ensure all works are carried out strictly in accordance with drawings and specifications
- Supervise timber frame subcontractor
- Oversee plumbing, biodigester and electrical installations
- Coordinate carpentry, finishing trades and in-house site teams
- Monitor construction quality and resolve site issues
- Prepare basic quantity estimates for materials and works
- Maintain site records and prepare required technical/progress reports
- Ensure health & safety standards
Qualifications or requirements
- Degree or diploma in Building Construction, Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related field
Experience needed
- Minimum at least 3-5 years practical construction site experience
- Proven hands-on experience supervising construction works and managing subcontractors directly
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Experience preparing site reports and basic quantity take-offs
- Experience with timber or light structural construction will be an advantage.
- Experience working on projects pursuing sustainability / WELL / regenerative design standards will be an added advantage.
