Background information about the job or company

We are strengthening our corporate affairs and communications capabilities, and we are looking for a Social Media & Digital Content Specialist to lead our digital storytelling.

In this role you will run Quickmart’s corporate social media and produce multimedia content to support corporate affairs, and turn corporate, sustainability, business and community messaging into engaging, platform-native content that builds trust with customers, communities, employees and partners.

This is a consultant role based in Nairobi, working within the Corporate Affairs team.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Run Quickmart’s corporate and institutional social media channels (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) owning the content calendar, publishing and community management.
  • Produce multimedia content end to end including short-form videos, motion graphics, photography, carousels, infographics and copy.
  • Bring Quickmart’s corporate growth and impact narrative to life for corporate and business audiences covering sustainability and shared-value stories, the supplier network, employer-brand and people stories across the workforce, and community impact across 16 counties.
  • Produce and curate content, and lead the social and multimedia content for corporate events and campaigns, adapting copy in the corporate voice while keeping web and social consistent.
  • Support issues and crisis response on social media monitoring, rapid-response content and holding statements with the corporate affairs team.
  • Run social listening, track performance and report on reach, engagement and sentiment, optimising content continuously.
  • Partner with the marketing team on paid amplification and activations, keeping the corporate voice and commercial activity aligned but distinct.

Qualifications or requirements

  • A degree in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in social media and digital content.
  • A strong portfolio or showreel of multimedia content you have personally created (video, motion graphics, photography and design).
  • Hands-on skills in editing and graphic-design tools (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, CapCut).
  • Experience with social media management, scheduling and analytics tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, Hootsuite).
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with strong attention to brand, accuracy and detail.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in financial and corporate communications.
  • Experience running corporate or institutional social channels (not only consumer or brand social), with prior experience supporting major campaigns, launches or milestones.
  • Familiarity with website content management (e.g. WordPress) and a working knowledge of SEO.
  • Responsible use of AI-assisted content tools.
  • A good understanding of the Kenyan and East African social and media landscape.
  • Retail, FMCG or consumer-facing experience.
