Role Overview:

The Social Media Manager will lead the development and implementation of social media strategies to amplify the voices of Indigenous peoples, raise awareness about their rights, and advance the organization’s mission globally. This role requires creativity, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for human rights advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute innovative social media strategies across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) to engage audiences and drive advocacy goals.
  • Create, curate, and schedule compelling content (graphics, videos, stories, articles) that aligns with the organization’s mission and resonates with diverse communities.
  • Monitor social media trends, analytics, and audience feedback to optimize content and campaign performance.
  • Manage online communities, respond to inquiries, and foster meaningful dialogue around Indigenous rights issues.
  • Collaborate with advocacy, communications, and program teams to align social media efforts with campaigns and events.
  • Design and implement paid social media campaigns to expand reach and impact.
  • Prepare regular reports on social media metrics, insights, and ROI for stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or similar role, preferably in advocacy, NGOs, or human rights spaces.
  • Portfolio demonstrating successful social media campaigns and content creation (e.g., graphics, videos, written posts).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with cultural competence and sensitivity to Indigenous issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or global team environment.
  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and content management systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field (preferred but not mandatory).
