Background

BuuPass offers mobile digital solutions for booking and payment of public transport services. We challenge ourselves to make simpler, smarter, and more sustainable solutions that positively impact daily lives. BuuPass is currently operating in Nairobi, Kenya and allows travellers to book and pay for their bus tickets from their phone and pay with mobile mone...

What You'll Do:

Short-Form Content Creation & Strategy

  • Own BuuPass's short-form video strategy across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts — from concept to execution to iteration.
  • Ideate and produce high-volume, fast-turnaround content that taps into trending sounds, formats, and cultural moments relevant to African audiences.
  • Build a consistent content rhythm: testing formats relentlessly until you find what spreads.
  • Be the creative engine — you don't just brief others, you can shoot and edit yourself when needed.

Community Building & Virality

  • Develop and execute a community strategy that turns BuuPass users, drivers, and operators into advocates and content creators.
  • Identify and engage micro-influencers, travel creators, and everyday commuters to amplify organic reach.
  • Actively manage and grow our social communities — responding, engaging, and sparking conversations that feel human and alive.
  • Spot viral opportunities in real time and move fast to capitalize on them.
  • Build UGC (user-generated content) campaigns that get customers posting about their BuuPass journeys.

Brand Voice & Storytelling

  • Develop a distinct, recognizable BuuPass voice that resonates across East and Southern Africa.
  • Find the stories hidden in our data — 20M+ journeys is a goldmine of human stories waiting to be told.
  • Collaborate with the design team on visuals and with founders on brand positioning.

Analytics & Iteration

  • Track organic performance metrics: views, shares, saves, follower growth, and engagement rate — and use them to kill what's not working and double down on what is.
  • Report weekly on content performance with a clear point of view on what to do differently.

What We're Looking For:

  • 2–4 years in social media, content creation, or community management — ideally at a consumer brand or startup.
  • You are a native user of TikTok and Instagram Reels. You understand the algorithm intuitively, not theoretically.
  • You have a portfolio of content you've made that actually performed — show us the numbers.
  • Strong video editing skills (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or similar). Basic shooting skills are a must.
  • Deep understanding of African pop culture, internet trends, and how people talk online in Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria.
  • A bias for action — you'd rather ship and learn than perfect and delay.
  • Bonus: experience building communities, running creator programs, or growing accounts from scratch.
