About the Project

To assess progress toward its goal of substantially strengthening anti-slavery movements, the Freedom Fund is expanding efforts to evaluate the condition of these movements. The organization has commissioned Ignited Word LLC to conduct a baseline evaluation of its Kenya "hotspot" movement-building work, with social network analysis being a key data collection method. The evaluation will illuminate the movement's health as well as its stage of network development (e.g., emerging, rooted, or growing).

Scope of Work

The Kenya-based social network analysis (SNA) researcher will be an important member of the evaluation team, providing research and facilitation support, as well as cultural, linguistic, and context-specific guidance to the team. Key activities are:

  • (Co-) Facilitation and Advisory for Participatory Sessions

The consultant will be expected to lead an in-person 2-3 hour session at an in-person community of practice meeting on February 25 near Nairobi. While the session will be designed collaboratively, the consultant will serve as the on-the-ground representative of the Ignited Word team. They will help to field research questions and to lead participants through a process of selecting research inquiry themes and questions, along with familiarizing participants with the evaluation's purpose and process.
