Role Summary

To teach Social Studies (integrating History, Geography, Citizenship, and Life Skills) in the CBC curriculum, helping learners understand Kenya’s heritage, environment, governance, and global connections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cover topics: Kenyan history (pre-colonial to present), map reading, weather & climate, natural resources, governance, human rights, peace education, and financial literacy.
  • Use field trips, maps, charts, atlases, and digital resources for lessons.
  • Teach learners to interpret graphs, timelines, and simple statistical data.
  • Assign group projects (e.g., local history research, environmental conservation activities).
  • Assess learner progress through projects, oral presentations, and written tests.
  • Integrate CBC core competencies: critical thinking, digital literacy, citizenship.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Primary Education (Social Studies option) or B.Ed. (History/Geography).
  • TSC registered.
  • Minimum 1 year teaching Social Studies in a Kenyan CBC school.
  • Ability to make history and geography lively through storytelling and maps.
  • Good classroom management skills.
