The Methodist Church in Kenya (MCK Kaaga Synod) is dedicated to holistic ministry, community empowerment, and social welfare across the Meru region. We strive to support vulnerable individuals and families through compassion, faith-driven outreach, and professional social services.
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and structured **Social Worker** to join our team in Meru. The ideal candidate will combine professional social work expertise with strong Christian values to assess community needs, deliver psychosocial support, and manage welfare initiatives within the Synod.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management & Counseling: Conduct intake assessments, provide counseling, and deliver social support to individuals and families in need.
- Community Engagement: Facilitate social welfare programs, community outreach efforts, and church-led intervention projects.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, confidential client case files, progress reports, and administrative documentation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with local administration, community groups, and faith-based partners to maximize outreach impact.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma in Social Work from a recognized institution (A Diploma in Counseling Psychology will be an added advantage).
- Secondary Education: Minimum KCSE mean grade of C (Plain).
- Technical Skills: Valid Certificate in computer software applications/packages.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ active experience in a similar social work role.
- Languages: Fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
- Personal Attributes: A mature Christian of high integrity and good moral standing.
