Responsibilities or duties

• Teach the principles of sociology of education including the relationship between education and social structures, inequality, and social change.
• Supervise students in sociological research on educational institutions, social stratification, and educational experiences.
• Conduct research on access and equity in education, social factors affecting educational achievement, and the role of education in social reproduction.
• Train students in sociological research methods including surveys, ethnography, and social network analysis.
• Develop teaching materials on the sociology of schools, teachers, and students, and on educational policy and reform from a sociological perspective.
• Guide students in understanding the intersections of education with class, gender, race, and culture.
• Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and policy makers on research addressing educational inequality.
• Setting, moderating, invigilating and marking examinations.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

i. Applicants should hold a PhD or a master's degree qualification in a relevant field from a recognized academic institution; and possess vast teaching or industry experience at undergraduate/postgraduate levels.

ii. Applicants must have served as a Lecturer or equivalent industry experience in a university or institution recognized by the Senate of JOOUST.

iii. Demonstrate potential for university teaching and/or research;

iv. At least two (2) years teaching experience in a university.

v. Master's holders registered for PhD may be considered

vi. Be registered with the relevant professional body as required by the field of specialization.
