Job Purpose/Mission
The Stock Accountant is responsible for ensuring proper management of company’s inventory/ stock items. Maintains and updates the stock records, responsible for conducting physical stock counts, perform regular stock reconciliations and overall monitoring of stock transactions. Working closely under the Procurement/Finance/Customer Experience/Commercial departments
Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce inventory policies, procedures, adopt appropriate technology, ERP workflows and internal controls
- Diagnose and resolve causes of inventory variances/discrepancies
- Collate, document and report all variances reported during receipt of goods from suppliers/ inter warehouse transfers and ensure proper adjustments are done after approval by Head of Finance, Head of Operations and Country Director.
- Perform weekly stock reconciliations of physical counts against system for all categories of inventory at mysol shops and stock points and highlight variances to the head of finance and head of operations.
- Perform monthly stock reconciliations of physical counts against system for all categories of inventory at the warehouse and all stock holding locations (shops, stock points and 3PD) and highlight variances to the head of finance, head of commercial, head of customer experience and head of operations.
- Oversee and coordinate physical inventory counts of goods (monthly and cycle counts) for all locations along with regular inspections to identify discrepancies and ways to improve inventory management
- Carry out spot checks (inventory ad hoc audits) on stock balances in all stock holding locations as against the system records to capture any anomalies.
- Ensure that goods received by warehouse team are matched with the actual invoices and packing list from the suppliers
- Reconcile stock deliveries to selling locations (shops/stock points/3PDs) with stock orders and raise non-conformity reports where applicable
- Quarterly review and reporting on Inventory Ageing analysis report and implementing agreed/recommended actions
- Coordinate with warehouse team to implement and ensure proper control systems and procedures to reduce theft, damage, breakage, and inventory obsolescence.
Experience
Minimum 3 Years’ experience in Stock accounting and management is an added advantage.
Good understanding of stock related operational and control requirements
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel.
Ability to deliver excellent results under minimum supervision and keen eye for details
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business.
Minimum CPA Part 2
