Students Supervisor – Master in Learning Design and Technology

1. Supervise students in the design, development, and evaluation of digital learning environments, including e-learning platforms and mobile applications.
2. Guide candidates in applying instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, backward design) to create effective educational experiences.
3. Mentor students in the use of authoring tools, learning management systems, and multimedia production for pedagogical purposes.
4. Oversee user experience (UX) and usability testing of learning technologies with target learner populations.
5. Support students in researching emerging technologies (e.g., VR/AR, gamification, adaptive learning) and their pedagogical implications.
6. Supervise the creation of implementation plans for integrating technology into formal and informal educational settings.
7. Evaluate portfolio-based submissions that demonstrate mastery of learning design principles and technical proficiency.

Roles & Responsibilities of Supervisors

• Provide academic and research supervision to Masters and PhD candidates.
• Guide candidates in proposal development, research design, data collection, analysis and thesis writing.
• Mentor candidates through virtual supervision on OUK's digital platforms.
• Ensure adherence to OUK's Graduate Studies Policy, research ethics and quality standards and other University policies including timelines.
• Provide timely feedback and progress reports as per institutional guidelines.
• Support preparation for thesis defense and publication of research outputs.

Qualifications for a Masters supervisor

• PhD in a relevant field OR Master’s degree with significant research/ professional experience in specialized areas and demonstration of supervision of Masters candidates to completion.
• At least two (2) peer-reviewed publications in the last five years.
• Strong digital mentoring and online engagement skills to effectively support learners in virtual environments.
• Familiarity and prior experience with online or virtual supervision will be an added advantage.
