The Role

The Sub Grants and Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the Sub Grants Manager in the effective and efficient management of sub-grants, ensuring compliance with Mercy Corps and donor regulations. This role involves financial monitoring, reporting, and capacity building of sub-grantees.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and review of sub-grant agreements.
  • Monitor sub-grantee financial expenditures and performance.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and site visits to sub-grantees.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports from sub-grantees.
  • Provide financial capacity building and training to sub-grantees.
  • Maintain accurate sub-grant financial records.
  • Support in the preparation of donor reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Mercy Corps policies and procedures and donor requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grants management, finance, or accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles and sub-grant compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili is required.
