Role Overview

This is an entry-level position within the Ministry of Defence. Officers appointed to this role will provide essential sanitary and support services that contribute to the cleanliness, hygiene, and smooth operation of Ministry facilities. The position is operational in nature and requires reliability, attention to detail, and adherence to institutional standards.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the grade of Support Staff / Sanitary Cleaner, an applicant must meet the following requirement:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification

No additional qualifications are required beyond those stated above.

Work Environment and Deployment

Successful candidates may be deployed to various Ministry of Defence facilities depending on operational needs. Deployment may be within offices, institutions, or other government establishments under the Ministry’s jurisdiction.

• Undertaking sanitary cleaning duties within offices, buildings, and other designated facilities
• Cleaning floors, corridors, offices, washrooms, and common areas in accordance with set standards
• Collecting, handling, and disposing of waste in a safe and responsible manner
• Performing messengerial duties, including delivery and collection of documents and small items
• Supporting general office operations through assigned routine tasks
• Proper use and storage of cleaning equipment, tools, and materials
• Observing workplace safety and hygiene requirements
• Reporting hazards, maintenance issues, or shortages of cleaning materials to supervisors
• Undertaking any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time
