Background

We are seeking a Swimming Academy Lead Coach to oversee U9–U17 swimmers. The coach will develop a performance-driven programme that integrates technical skill development, strength & conditioning, endurance training, and competition preparation with academic flexibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a structured swimming curriculum with age-appropriate benchmarks.
  • Lead weekly sessions, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, across term and holiday periods.
  • Track swimmer progress with metrics, timed trials, video analysis, and termly performance reports.
  • Prepare swimmers for regional, national, and international competitions.
  • Promote a professional academy culture emphasising discipline, resilience, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate with academic tutors to ensure student-athletes meet academic expectations.
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists, nutritionists, psychologists, and sports scientists for holistic athlete support.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety standards are fully implemented.

SUCCESS INDICATORS (KPI’S)

  • Measurable improvement in technical skill, endurance, and starts per term.
  • Participation in ≥3 regional or national swimming competitions annually.
  • High retention rates with target enrolment of 50 swimmers in Year 1.
  • ≥90% of swimmers meet academic targets.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Recognised swimming coaching qualification (Kenya Swimming Federation / World Aquatics / ASA).
  • Lifesaving and first aid certification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience coaching in a structured swimming academy.
  • Proven experience coaching school-age athletes for competitive pathways.
  • Flexible to conduct early morning, evening, and weekend sessions.
