Requirements for Appointment
- A minimum of a Craft Certificate in Tailoring, Dressmaking and/or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- An Original National Identification Card; and
- At least One (1) year relevant work experience as a Tailor.
Duties and responsibilities
- Measure, cut, sew and assemble graduation gowns and related academic regalia in accordance with approved specifications;
- Alter and repair existing graduation gowns as required;
- Hem, finish and press gowns to ensure a neat and professional appearance;
- Inspect completed gowns to ensure they meet the required quality standards;
- Operate and maintain sewing machines and other tailoring equipment in good working condition;
- Report any shortages or defects in materials and accessories to the supervisor;
- Ensure proper handling and safe storage of fabrics, accessories and finished gowns;
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area;
- Complete assigned work within the prescribed timelines and
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Job application procedure
Interested candidates are required to report to the Department of Arts and Design, Siriba Campus, Maseno University, on Monday, 17th August 2026, at 9:00 a.m. for a practical assessment. Candidates must bring their own tools of trade, including a sewing machine and a pair of scissors.
