The tax accountant will be responsible for ensuring that the company meets all statutory tax requirements and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to minimize tax risks and optimize tax efficiencies. They will ensure statutory compliance with applicable laws and regulations while identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and support business growth

Responsibilities

  • Reporting and Reconciliations: Reconcile tax accounts, maintain organized tax records, and prepare supporting documentation for internal reviews, external audits, and KRA inquiries.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and internal teams to follow up on tax matters and ensure the availability of accurate data for reporting.
  • Documentation and Process Management: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to tax and regulatory compliance.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Track changes in tax laws and assist in identifying potential risks and resolving them promptly to ensure continued adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Tax Advisory- Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on the implications
  • Finance Team Support: Provide assistance in general finance functions including month-end closings, budgeting cycles, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Be a CPA-K
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in tax compliance and accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, KRA iTax system, and e-filing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems e.g QuickBooks
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and willingness to learn.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and ability to work under tight deadlines (especially during tax filing seasons).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
