YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Supplier Sourcing & Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard local and international suppliers for Bureau facility infrastructure TV and Radio studio technical parts or Kits, Sound and light parts. Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and cost- efficiency.
Procurement & Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and shipping arrangements with suppliers. Ensure all procurement processes align with the BBC procurement policies and guidelines as well as Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all imported and locally purchased materials comply with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), CAK, industry certification and other specific applicable standards.
Logistics & Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or specific project delays. Coordinate logistics for clearing and forwarding goods at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), ensuring timely delivery.
Quality Assurance: Read and interpret technical engineering specifications to conduct thorough quality audits on incoming materials and equipment. Identify and resolve discrepancies or defects to maintain project integrity.
Provide general assistance to internal stakeholders on a range of procurement activities and deal with general queries on policies and processes.
Support development of procurement guidelines and testing and continuous improvement of procurement processes and procedures. Run reports to aid in scoping requirements, identifying savings and improving contract compliance.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience in procurement, supply chain management, or technical sourcing, preferably within media or service industry environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, or a related field from a recognized institution – or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with Kenyan import/export logistics, customs procedures, and KEBS standards.
- Proficiency in inventory/Asset Register management systems and procurement software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities along with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Experience of providing analytical and data retrieval activities.
- Experience of working quickly and accurately under time constraints in a team.
- Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
- Able to communicate effectively with the business and decide when it is appropriate to escalate issues.
- Good written and oral communication skills with experience of liaising with stakeholders.
