Background
We are a privately owned, hands on business, operating with over 1500 acres of prime land. We run three different farms to provide climatic diversity. We have invested heavily in dams, boreholes and waterpans to ensure irrigation is a key asset for us.
Responsibilities
- Provide farmers in the Out growers program with assistance in the conduct of site selection, seed preparation, seeding, and management, harvesting and sampling operations, record keeping, data entry and analysis.
- Ensuring the company planting programme is followed and that at all times the production is achieved as per the budget (3) Making weekly projections to the management and ensuring these are met.
- Ensuring good quality product as per the specifications.
- Assisting in the extension of Outgrower program results through written reports for farmers and advisory staff.
- Undertaking regular self-assessment of the farmers against the Ngong veg QMS and other external standards.
- Training of the farmers on various operational issues as guided by the training Matrix.
- Scouting for pest and diseases for the small scale farmers
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree/Diploma in Agronomy, Horticulture or other related field.
- 5 years or more experience in the industry
- Should have excellent strategic planning skills.
- Must have strong communication skills.
Desirable
- Should have the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be process driven, self-motivated, develop and work as part of a team and possess strong management, organisational and communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge in usage and handling of agricultural equipment, chemicals and fertilizers.
