Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead in the implementation, delivery of outputs of the project and support regular monitoring and reporting of all NoCaMo project activities.
  • Undertake delivery of assigned technical outputs and coordinate delivery of project outputs by project partners.
  • Review technical reports and knowledge products as developed by implementing partners.
  • Collate all project outputs, briefs, publications, lessons learned and best practices and prepare them for uploading on NOCAMO project page in the Nairobi Convention website.
  • Analyse reports and outputs on marine spatial planning within the NoCaMo project countries including emerging trends, risks and opportunities from reports and deliverables under Component 2 and 3 of NoCaMo project that are relevant to integrated marine and coastal management in the Northern Mozambique Channel countries
  • Prepare statistics and visualizations of the outputs of NOCAMO project and knowledge products for wide dissemination through the Nairobi Convention clearinghouse.
  • Prepare a sustainability strategy for NOCAMO project through two concepts and two proposal to facilitate upscaling of the project; demonstrate linkages between NOCAMO project and the Convention’s Programme of Work 2025-2028, including other Nairobi Convention projects and partner initiatives.
  • Prepare technical and final progress reports for the NOCAMO Project as required in the main project document
  • prepare technical progress reports for assigned outputs and compile progress reports provided by Partners for regular reporting to donor
  • Prepare final report of NoCaMo project covering achievements, outputs, outcomes, challenges, lessons learned, and potential technical, scientific and policy recommendations.
  • Map linkages on MSP work done under NOCAMO and proposed MSP work under SWIOP and contribute to the development of the SWIOP workplan.
  • Set up a programme for implementation of MSP work under the SWIOP

Qualifications/special skills

  • Academic qualifications: Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) is required in Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Ecology, Ocean Governance, or similar disciplines.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant progressive experience in integrated marine and coastal management and familiarity with Marine Spatial Planning processes.
  • Strong technical expertise in marine and coastal project management, preferably in a regional context is required Demonstrated experience in organizations with a mandate or relevancy to the marine and coastal environments or a related area is required.
  • Experience working on coastal and marine environment issues in the WIO region is desired.
